Full-time, Tenure Track Faculty: Dental Hygiene Instructor/Program Director

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES (representative)

INSTRUCTION:

COURSE AND CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

SERVICE TO THE COLLEGE, PROFESSION AND COMMUNITY

In addition to performing the duties of a teaching faculty member, the Dental Hygiene Program Director is assigned the following responsibilities:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. A current dental hygiene State of Ohio license.
  2. A graduate of a program accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  3. A master’s or higher degree or a DDS/DMD degree.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as or working with (e.g., in the case of a dentist) a dental hygienist in a clinical practice.
  5. Previous experience as a didactic and clinical instructor in a dental hygiene program.
  6. Experience that provides evidence of developed leadership, management, and organizational skills in dental hygiene and education. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer applicants with community college teaching experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a full-time faculty position with a minimum 178-day employment contract.  

The College-designated, renewable program director assignment has an associated reduction in teaching load ranging from 3-7.5 units of release time. Presently, this assignment is awarded 7.5 units of release time from classroom teaching in both Fall and Spring semesters. Additionally, the assignment includes additional weeks of extended time (defined as work during breaks in the academic calendar – i.e., summer, spring break) to be determined by administration as necessary.
